Why Is Prime Video Not Promoting Zwigato’s Premiere Yet

Kapil Sharma and Shahana Goswami starrer ‘Zwigato’ had its world premiere two years ago and finally it’s coming to digital on Prime Video this October 25. Despite the film having received such huge critical and public acclaim, Prime Video hasn’t revealed ‘Ziwgato’s’ premiere announcement on it’s social media yet.

Many have long been waiting for ‘Zwigato’s’ OTT release and now that the wait is to be over soon, Prime Video doesn’t seem to show much interest in it. Though the film came up in its press release revealing the upcoming content for the month of October, not many read it and most of the general audience relies on the social media announcements.

Unfortunately, Prime Video is failing big time to capitalise on the film’s popularity. Though it might not be a mass-centric, A-list starrer film, yet it managed to impress both critics and public who poured praises on the film for its brilliant writing, heartfelt storyline, impeccable performances, deft direction and more.

‘Zwigato’ most certainly deserves all the praise and attention and it’s saddening to see how Prime Video is ignoring it and will probably just drop a now streaming post when it arrives on the platform. Had it been some blockbuster, big star film, the scenario wouldn’t have been the same.

Directed by Nandita Das, ‘Zwigato’ is about an ex-floor manager of a factory who loses his job during the pandemic. He then works as a food delivery rider, grappling with the world of ratings and incentives. To support the income, his homemaker wife begins to explore different work opportunities, with fear but also excitement of a new found independence. The film is about the relentlessness of life, but not without their shared moments of joy. It captures the lives of invisible ‘ordinary’ people, hidden in plain sight.

‘Zwigato’ is set to premiere on Prime Video On October 25.
