ZEE5’s Bhagwat Teases Epic Face-Off Between Warsi & Kumar

ZEE5 is all set to drop one of the most anticipated thrillers of the year, Bhagwat Chapter 1: Raakshas, on October 17. While the film tackles a case of missing girls at its core, viewers should be more excited about the explosive clash between its leading men: Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar.

The latest trailer for Bhagwat shows Warsi and Kumar in their never-before-seen avatars. The film appears to transcend the typical cop versus killer or good versus evil dynamic, looking more like a cerebral showdown between two seasoned actors who are also shedding their most familiar screen personas.

For Arshad Warsi, Bhagwat is shaping up to be his most complex and emotionally dark turn yet. Known for his effortless comedic timing in Munna Bhai MBBS and the Golmaal series, and his sharp procedural work in Asur, Warsi’s portrayal of Inspector Vishwas Bhagwat appears to be a deeply vulnerable performance.

The trailer shows his character as a flawed, angry, and relentlessly determined cop transferred to Robertsganj, Uttar Pradesh. He is forced to confront his own inner battles while investigating a grim series of disappearing girls. Even Warsi has admitted that his role in Bhagwat is one of the most rewarding of his career.

On the other hand, we have Jitendra Kumar. Having built a career on the earnest, morally grounded charm of characters like ‘Jitu Bhaiya’ in Panchayat and the relatable and inspiring academic in Kota Factory, Kumar’s turn as Sameer is an exciting departure.

The trailer introduces Sameer (Kumar) as a seemingly ordinary young man, perhaps a professor, who is initially shown in a vulnerable, even romantic, light. But as Inspector Bhagwat closes in, we discover that Sameer actually dons a chilling, complex, and deeply layered persona, characteristics that make him a perfect antagonist against Warsi’s Bhagwat. Kumar himself admitted the role was challenging and liberating, as it allowed him to break away from his well-established image.

Warsi’s Bhagwat is the meticulous and hard-working police officer who is running against time, ready to do whatever it takes to bring down Kumar’s Sameer. Whereas the latter operates with the precision of a predator, describing himself as a “hawk” rather than a monster.

If the overall storyline and narrative end up doing justice to the leading men’s commitment, then Bhagwat could emerge as an emotionally charged, quality, and high-stakes thriller. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out the trailer below!
