Zee5’s ‘Mrs.’: A Woman With Dreams Vs Societal Expectations

Zee5 has dropped the trailer for its upcoming direct-to-digital release ‘Mrs.’ and it’s a tale of a woman’s struggle to find her voice while fulfilling societal expectations. Helmed by Arati Kadav, ‘Mrs.’ is the Hindi remake of acclaimed Malayalam film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’ and is set it premiere on Zee5 after an extensive festival run.

‘Mrs.’ trailer kicks off on a happy note where an arranged marriage brings Richa and Diwakar together. After the initial few happy days, Richa soon starts to struggle settling in the new home where she is expected to fit into that perfect role of a housewife. Moreover, what troubles her more is when she is forced to let go of her passion for dancing.

Those who have seen the original Malayalam version cannot help but notice how ‘Mrs.’ feels to be a frame to frame copy of ‘The Great Indian Kitchen’. Will that work in its favour or not will be interesting to see.

Directed by Arati Kadav, ‘Mrs.’ stars Sanya Malhotra, Nishant Dahiya, Kanwaljit Singh, Aparna Ghoshal, Mrinal Kulkarni, and Nitya Moyal. Produced by Baweja Studios in association with Jio Studios, ‘Mrs.’ has been to several film festivals and will premiere m on Zee5 on 7th February, 2025.
