It seems A24 has introduced a brand new, cute, and adorable mascot in the form of Ochi—watch out, Baby Yoda. The prominent indie studio has released a new trailer for The Legend of Ochi, starring Helena Zengel and Willem Dafoe.
The upcoming A24 indie fantasy features a mythical creature whose appearance rivals the cuteness of Grogu, aka Baby Yoda, from The Mandalorian.
The Legend of Ochi follows a brave young girl who runs away from home to save Ochi and return him to his own home. Along her journey, she learns how to communicate with Ochi, forming a strong bond of friendship. However, the residents of the island fear the creature due to the notorious and brutal history associated with beings like him. Despite this, the girl manages to befriend a younger and more innocent one.
According to Deadline, A24 executives were so impressed with the film’s script and scope that they quickly signed debutant director Isaiah Saxon, who also wrote the movie. The indie production house is well-known for working with new and emerging talents capable of delivering unique and innovative storylines.
Alongside Zengel and Dafoe (Poor Things), we see other talents such as Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Emily Watson (Midas Man) in the latest trailer. The Russo Brothers serve as one of the executive producers for this one, and will soon helm Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
The Legend of Ochi has yet to receive a release date from A24. Check out the trailer right here!
