Marvel fans, who desperately wanted Andrew Garfield to return as Spider-Man, had their wish fulfilled in MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. His surprise appearance in the Tom Holland starrer was a moment of pure delight for viewers. That moment felt like a dream come true for many fans, especially those who were left heartbroken after learning about Sony shelving The Amazing Spider-Man 3 for good.
But Garfield’s appearance in No Way Home was not enough for fans. In fact, his extended cameo fueled their hopes of seeing the popular English and American actor donning the red and blue Spidey suit again in a future MCU project.
Well, guess what? Garfield is open to playing Spider-Man again! So, go ahead and cheer!
In his recent interview with Esquire, Garfield talked in detail about his time on the set of Spider-Man: No Way Home and added that putting on the Spidey costume again felt “satisfying,” considering how Sony abruptly shelved The Amazing Spider-Man franchise. When asked about his return as Peter Parker, he replied:
“For sure, I would 100 percent come back if it was the right thing, if it’s additive to the culture, if there’s a great concept or something that hasn’t been done before that’s unique and odd and exciting and that you can sink your teeth into,” he said. “I love that character, and it brings joy. If part of what I bring is joy, then I’m joyful in return.”
Now that we know Garfield is open to donning the Spidey suit again, and given how skilled he is at keeping secrets, his interest is bound to get every Marvel fan talking. Will we see the trio of Spider-Men reunite on screen? Or could Garfield emerge as the Peter Parker of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe? He may even get a cameo appearance in one of the upcoming Avengers movies: Doomsday or Secret Wars. Who knows?
MCU’s fourth solo Spider-Man film, featuring the likes of Tom Holland and Zendaya, is under development at Marvel Studios, with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton helming the project. On the other hand, Andrew Garfield is busy promoting his upcoming acclaimed romantic drama, We Live in Time, which is scheduled to get a limited theatrical release in the US on October 11.
