If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the DCU’s Batman saga in the form of Andy Muschietti’s The Brave and the Bold, you might want to temper your expectations. The Flash director has revealed that fans will have to wait longer than anticipated to see his next project for the DCU.
James Gunn’s DCU is gradually gaining momentum and finding a place in the hearts of superhero fans, starting with the hit animated series Creature Commandos. Next on the slate is the first feature film of the DCU, Superman, starring David Corenswet as the new “Last Son of Krypton.” Back in early 2023, Gunn announced The Brave and the Bold as part of the first chapter of the DCU, titled Gods and Monsters. However, the project’s development has hit a roadblock.
In a recent interview on the California Secreta podcast, Muschietti revealed that The Brave and the Bold is not happening anytime soon, and he may end up working on a different movie project in the meantime. Check out his statement below!
“The Batman [The Brave and the Bold] project has been postponed a little bit, so I might do another film before that.”
Batman: The Brave and the Bold in DC Comics tells the story of Batman and his son, Damian. Inspired by Grant Morrison’s acclaimed comics, it explores the evolving relationship between the two while introducing the beginning of the Bat Family in the DC Universe.
Things are looking “hopeful” for the reimagined DC Universe, thanks to the new, record-breaking Superman trailer. Creature Commandos has given the franchise a strong start, but all eyes are now on James Gunn’s Superman movie. It’s fair to say that this film is a make-or-break moment for the DCU, as its success will determine the development of The Brave and the Bold. Moreover, Superman must also revitalise the superhero genre, which has lost some of its lustre in recent years. Let’s hope for the best! Stay tuned for more updates.
