Another Emmy Winner Joins DCU’s Lanterns Series

The cast of Lanterns is expanding with every passing day. After Kyle Chandler took over the role of the veteran green lantern Hal Jordan and Arron Piere was cast as his partner John Stewart, we have a new update. Kelly Macdonald, who you might know from “No Country for Old Men, “Intermission,” and “Trainspotting,” has been cast as Sherrif Kerry, a love interest for Hal Jordan.

While there is no doubt that Kelly is a very talented actress, there are some who are divided over the choices of including the character of Kerry rather than the more canon love interest of Jordan, which is Carol Ferris. Ferris was last played by Blake Lively in the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie.

The decision to skip Ferris might be a way to move away from the previous interpretation. Not just that, the character is also a lantern herself in the comics, albeit she is a violet lantern also known as Star Sapphire. Since the DCU is still in its infancy, too many heroes can be detrimental.

Kelly Macdonald, much like Kyle Chandler, is an Emmy Award-winning actress. She was awarded for the BBC movie “The Girl in the Café” on HBO. Kelly thus is very acquainted with the Warner Bros. brand. Kelly will soon be seen in Netflix’s upcoming horror comedy “The Radleys.”.
