It seems like Apple TV is ready to step down from its closed circle. The streaming service is ready to collaborate with Amazon Prime Video to have its services attached to the latter as an add-on. Prime Video, on the other hand, has been out there collecting these add-ons, which now amount to a whopping 100+ services under this program. The other services include Max, Paramount+, Crunchyroll, and many more.
The pricing will be the same for the usual Apple TV subscription. The option will be available to the users of Amazon Prime Video in the US from the next month, when they can subscribe to the add-on by paying an extra $9.99.
For Prime Video, the inclusion of all of these services is a direct means of increasing user engagement and one up the obvious common rival, that is Netflix. On the other hand, Apple might just be tapping into a new market with its own content from Apple TV, which includes shows like Ted Lasso, Morning Show, Hijack, Loot, and Alm Royale, along with multiple movies and streaming of major league soccer and baseball.
From a user standpoint, it feels like the companies are a step closer to reinventing cable television, with multiple channels all housed under one payment. Just this time it is on the internet. The users can still opt for basic Prime subscriptions, which amount to $8.99 monthly. However, for an ad-free experience, you will be charged an extra $2.99, for which Amazon was sued. This new deal between Apple and Amazon might just prove to be an easier way out to manage the multiple subscriptions among the platforms.
