The godfather of The Boys universe, Eric Kripke, has shared an exciting update about the release window for Season 5, giving fans plenty of reason to celebrate. The franchise recently expanded its roots with Gen V Season 2, although the spinoff hasn’t yet been officially renewed by Prime Video. Still, Kripke has confirmed that he’s already begun planning a third season of the show.
Shifting focus back to The Boys Season 5, Kripke revealed that editing for the final season has been completed, while colour grading, music, and VFX are “halfway done.” Most importantly, he teased that Season 5 is “COMING (reasonably) SOON.”
Check out his latest X post below!
The first season of The Boys premiered on July 26, 2019, followed by Seasons 2 and 3 on September 4, 2020, and June 3, 2022, respectively. The fourth season arrived on June 13, 2024. Following this pattern, and based on Kripke’s latest tease, the final season is expected to debut sometime between May and July 2025.
With Homelander (Antony Starr) now in control of the U.S. government following the events of Season 4, he’s more dangerous and unhinged than ever. Naturally, fan theories for Season 5 are centred around one burning question: Who will finally take him down in the show’s final chapter?
Yes, The Boys will officially end with Season 5. But the larger universe will continue to expand through several spinoffs. In addition to Gen V Season 3, another major prequel series, Vought Rising, is in development, focusing on Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (Aya Cash). Meanwhile, The Boys: Mexico is also in the works, with Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer leading the creative direction.
In the meantime, fans can revisit all previous seasons of The Boys on Prime Video.
Stay tuned for more updates and more chaos from The Seven.
