Roofman, a crime drama led by Channing Tatum, now has its release window. The upcoming project, distributed by Paramount, also stars Kirsten Dunst and Peter Dinklage.
In the movie, Tatum plays a former Army Ranger and struggling father forced to rob McDonald’s restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname “Roofman.” After escaping from prison, he starts a new life and falls in love with a single mother and her two daughters. However, his past resurfaces, threatening to destroy his chance at redemption.
Derek Cianfrance directs this film. He is best known for directing Blue Valentine (2010), The Place Beyond the Pines (2012), and The Light Between Oceans (2016). Cianfrance also co-wrote Sound of Metal (2020) with Darius Marder and wrote and directed HBO’s miniseries I Know This Much Is True.
Jamie Patricof, Dylan Sellers, Lynette Howell Taylor, and Duncan Montgomery are serving as producers for Roofman, which has been acquired by Miramax Pictures for U.S. distribution, while Paramount will handle its distribution in international markets.
Dunst recently portrayed renowned photojournalist Lee Smith in Alex Garland’s Civil War, which became A24’s highest-grossing film, earning over $126 million globally. Tatum, meanwhile, appeared as Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine and starred in the romantic comedy Fly Me to the Moon alongside Scarlett Johansson.
Roofman is set to arrive in theaters next fall, on October 3, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates.
