Daniel Craig Falls In Love With Drew Starkey In Guadagnino’s ‘Queer’ Trailer

“I want to talk to you, without speaking,” says Daniel Craig to Drew Starkey in the latest official trailer for A24’s Queer, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, best known for Call Me By Your Name and Challengers. The screenplay, written by Justin Kuritzkes, adapts William S. Burroughs’ 1985 novel of the same name.

The new clip from A24 shows Craig’s character, William Lee, an outcast American expat, visiting a bar in Mexico City, where he catches sight of Starkey’s Eugene Allerton. The two frequently exchange longing glances in the trailer and engage in deep conversations that reveal their feelings for one another, ultimately leading to a romantic night together.

The trailer then takes a symbolic turn, showing scenes like Craig looking into a house model where a figure moves around. It also depicts people wearing hats as masks, and shaking leaves. Other scenes suggest personal moments between the main characters, a threat from a mysterious woman with a gun, and a snake biting its own tail while crying, symbolizing a cyclical, self-destructive pattern.

Queer premiered at this year’s Venice Film Festival, where it opened with highly positive reviews. Critics praised Guadagnino’s direction and Craig’s performance. In fact, many of them believe that the 007 actor has given his career-best work in the upcoming A24 period romantic drama.

Apart from Craig and Starkey, other stars that appear in Queer are Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, Henry Zaga, Ariel Schulman, David Lowery, and more. It will come out in theatres on November 27. Here’s the trailer!
