DCU Supergirl Villain Comfirmed

DCU Supergirl Villain Comfirmed

After Sasha Calle, we will see House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock donning the Crest of House of El as Kara Zor El. James Gunn’s Supergirl in the new DCU. But they say a hero is only as good as their villain. And to fill that role, we finally have a confirmed name. Belgian actor Matthias Schoenaerts has been confirmed to play the villain in the second movie of DCU “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.”

Schoenaerts was recently seen against Kate Winslet in HBO’s The Regime. He has other projects as well under his belt. Ranging from his appearance in the Django movies, the red sparrow in which we saw him against Jennifer Lawrence and the Old Guard. This time around, the role he will be playing is not very well defined. If we look into the source material, from which this movie will take inspiration, he might be playing a character known as “Krem.”.

The Supergirl movie is being considered a divergence from being a purely superhero story. It is set to lean more into the science fiction side of things. James Gunn is a maestro when it comes to mixing the two. Such was the case of Guardians of the Galaxy.

The project will surely be compared to the CW supegirl, but whereas the CW version had seasons full of development, this version will be just starting her journey. Hence, a hopeful welcome is preferable. Milly Alcock fits rather nicely in the role. As of now, the first movie of the new and refurbished DCU “Superman: Legacy” will hit theaters next year in January.
