Can anyone honestly say they’ve never dreamed of a network just for Star Wars and Marvel fans? Well, Disney+ is dead set to fulfill this dream.
Disney+ has confirmed that it plans to launch a new channel, Hits and Heroes, that will play titles belonging to globally prominent franchises such as Marvel Cinematic Universe, Star Wars, and many of Disney’s action franchises.
Back in August, Disney+ said they were going to launch a 24-hour streaming channel. It didn’t take them long to follow through on that plan.
Disney+ made the official announcement via Bloomberg. Apart from Hits and Heroes, the other new channels that will surface are Throwbacks (nostalgic content and cult classics), Real Life (biopics and documentaries), and Hallowstream. Among these four, Hits and Heroes will surely gain more viewership after launch.
Although Disney+ hasn’t revealed the specific Marvel and Star Wars movies and shows coming to Hits and Heroes, we can probably expect to see all the MCU films and the entire Star Wars universe on the new channel. Only Premium subscribers (no ad-tier) will be able to enjoy this channel.
Disney+ hasn’t said anything about launching more live channels yet. But if Hits and Heroes does well, it’s possible they might create separate channels for Marvel and Star Wars. Both franchises have enough content to make that work. Stay tuned for more updates.
