Dune Prophecy: A Slow Burn Into the Bene Gesserit’s Origins

Created by Diane Ademu-John and Alison Schapker, “Dune Prophecy” is the prequel of Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune part One and Two”.

It took plaace 10000 years ago of the events that took place in the “Dune” universe.

The story originally is taken from Brain Herbert’s book, “Sisterhood Of Dune”, and it talks about the origin of the “Bene Gesserit”.

The first episodes of the series have been released, and fans aren’t quite mad about it, every Dune movies first half is just to present the universe you’ll be dealing or rather witnessing it.

The episodes followed the same rule, it established the characters and the universe.

Because of the major effect of “Dune 2” fans were expecting some major event taking place in the first episode but rather it is moving like “Dune 1” where the world was established, and it is true that “Dune Prophecy” can be called as quite a slow burn.

However, the series oversimplifies the narrative and purpose, which can be because of poor writing, or to make the non Sci fi audience more attracted to it.

The problem that occurred with “Three Body Problem” that the audience couldn’t understand what was going on, but “Dune Prophecy” is making sure that the fans are fully understanding and being emerged to the universe.

If we talk about the the first episode then the striking political integrity and the tensted ambience is what keeps the audience engaged.

All in all “Dune Prophecy” is an excellent addition to the Dune Universe, with rich lore, and compelling storytelling it is something which will keep the fans engaged for a while.

Dune: Prophecy will have six episodes, each episode streaming every Monday on JioCinema in India.
