Ewan McGregor is optimistic about the Obi-Wan Kenobi series being picked up for a second season by Disney and Lucasfilm. The Scottish actor even has some plans for Season 2.
During a recent appearance at Comic-Con Los Angeles, McGregor shared some story ideas for Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 when asked if a second season was in the works. “There’s a couple of things. I’d quite like to wear that armour — I was speaking to someone earlier, from the Clone Wars. I think that would be something that I would enjoy.”
McGregor wearing Kenobi’s armour from the Clone Wars in Season 2 would be incredible. The early seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars depict the iconic Jedi Master donning his battle armour, complete with vambraces and gauntlets, to protect his arms during the first half of the war. However, he switches to more conventional Jedi robes in the later seasons. Many fans would be thrilled to see the character wear his classic Clone Wars armour in the Disney+ live-action series.
McGregor is also open to using de-aging technology to explore more of Obi-Wan’s past, especially his days in the Clone Wars. We saw Dave Filoni offer glimpses of Ahsoka’s past as Anakin Skywalker’s padawan during the Clone Wars in Episode 5 of the Ahsoka Disney+ series. Both fans and critics showered praise on the episode, making it the show’s best installment. Obi-Wan Kenobi deserves a similar episode, as we cannot overlook the pivotal role he played during the Clone Wars.
De-aging technology could be used to bring key moments from Kenobi’s past during the war to the screen. If that happens, we could see him reunite with his former padawan, Anakin Skywalker. Hayden Christensen’s de-aged look in Ahsoka was impressive, and it would be exciting to see an extended flashback sequence in Obi-Wan Kenobi featuring the iconic master-padawan duo of Kenobi and Skywalker.
McGregor returned as Kenobi in the 2022 live-action Disney+ series, marking his first appearance in the role after a 17-year gap since Revenge of the Sith. The story follows Kenobi as he secretly watches over Luke Skywalker while being called upon to protect Princess Leia from the Galactic Empire. Stay tuned for more updates.
