Eyes of Wakanda: MCU’s Latest Series Divides Fans

Eyes of Wakanda from Marvel Studios is now streaming on JioHotstar. Compared to other recent MCU projects, both streaming and theatrical, this animated anthology series seems to have received the least promotion from Marvel. With little hype among fans and online, the series itself has turned out to be “mid” for many viewers.

Marvel has found some much-needed stability with recent theatrical releases such as Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, it’s a completely different story when it comes to its TV shows. The last series, Ironheart, also faced heavy criticism from viewers for being “unnecessary” and “forced.”

In fact, Marvel Studios’ television department has been on a tumultuous ride since What If…? Season 3. Aside from Daredevil: Born Again, the studio has struggled to deliver a truly compelling series.

Expectations for Eyes of Wakanda were already low, and its reception is unlikely to improve the outlook for Marvel’s TV division.

According to early reviews, Eyes of Wakanda is a “mid” or “average” offering. While the voice acting, animation, and efforts to deepen the Black Panther lore have earned praise, critics have pointed to its rushed pacing, limited episode count, and an overall sense of incompleteness.

Hardcore Marvel fans may appreciate the deeper lore and character connections, but casual viewers could find it underwhelming due to inconsistent storytelling and a lack of emotional impact.

While the critical reception on Rotten Tomatoes is strong, with a 90% ‘fresh’ rating, the audience score is notably lower at 76%. The series has received even more mixed reviews on IMDb, with a modest rating of 6.5/10.

Here are some of the reactions to Eyes of Wakanda.
