Hollywood Is Going Through A “Pretty White Person” Obsession

Hollywood has a little problem, and it lies in the saturation of the new faces in every new project. taking the example of Timothee Chalamet, who recently got scooped up in the “biggest budgeted project of A-24 Marty Supreme. That’s great indeed, but just how many of these “big movies” will the American-French actor work on at one time?

The actor has been a part of every heavy-hitting film in the past few years. Whether it be the Dune series, the Wonka Movie, or the Bob Dylan biopic. Overall, this will be another addition to the actor’s recent list of high-end movies, as if Hollywood has no new talents anymore.

A similar problem seems to be prevalent in the case of Jeremy Alan White. Joining in on the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic. And while he looks spot on, the actor, just like Chamet, is everywhere. Ever since the Bear started to make news, the actor is being consistently added to the roster of multiple movies, which is leaving behind a feeling of oversaturation of the “new white boy of Hollywood” role.

This list couldn’t be complete without Sydney Sweeney. The darling of Hollywood. Her latest pictures as she takes up on the role of Christy Martin in the biopic have surfaced and are making quite the buzz, but she too is a factor in the overabundance in Hollywood as multiple movies and deals fall in her lap.

Honestly, it makes sense, given that all of them are exceptionally talented actors; however, the problem arises when the audience falls into fatigue. Seeing the same faces over and over again. The fact that these actors are able to diversify their talents is great, but this comes at the cost of diversity across projects.
