Jackie Chain & Ralph Macchio Unite In ‘Karate Kid: Legends’ Trailer

“Two branches, one tree.” This line from the latest official trailer of Sony’s Karate Kid: Legends perfectly sums up the movie, which stars “legends” Jackie Chan (Mr. Han) and Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso). Joining these two veterans is rising talent Ben Wang (Li Fong), who serves as the bridge connecting Han and LaRusso.

The trailer shows Han entrusting Li’s training to LaRusso. Their first encounter raises intriguing questions about the relationship between Mr. Han and Mr. Miyagi. Are they related? Do they share a family connection? Or did Miyagi mentor Han, much like Han mentored Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) in The Karate Kid (2010)? The clip doesn’t reveal these answers, leaving us speculating.

In the trailer, Han acknowledges the bond between Daniel and Mr. Miyagi, stating that Li is to him what Daniel was to Sensei Miyagi. This hints at a profound connection between Han and Miyagi, possibly pointing to a shared lineage or a common martial arts philosophy. The footage is elevated by its fast-paced, expertly choreographed fight sequences and sharp editing.

After a global search involving thousands of young actors, Ben Wang was selected to play the role of Li. He was chosen due to his impressive martial arts skills, which include karate, wing chun/kung fu, gumdo, kempo, and taekwondo.

Karate Kid: Legends also stars Joshua Jackson, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Danny McBride, Wyatt Oleff, and more talents. The trio of Karen Rosenfelt, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Will Smith have produced this one. It means we can expect a cameo appearance from Jaden Smith as well. The movie will come out on May 30, 2025.
