Joker Folie á Deux has to be a case study. You see, Joker was released on the big screens in 2019. The movie not only got great reviews but also went on to become the highest earning R-Rated film ever, only to be broken by Oppenheimer.
Later, the movie even won an Oscar.
What a win for Warner Bros.
Fast forward to now. Joker Folie á Deux was released again on the same date. The critics panned it left, right and centre. The common audiences hated it too. Thus, it is one of the biggest bombs at the Hollywood box office.
So much so that if we calculate the Indian equivalents then Warner Bros is in a loss of ₹1200 crores.
Anyways, so what happens to the OTT release of an ultra flop film in India?
Two things are possible. First, if it is a small film then OTT platforms abandon it.
Secondly, if it is something big then it gets released very quickly. In the case of Joker Folie á Deux, it is not a small time flick.
Yes it is a disaster but it is a massive disaster. So, it is coming for digital release fairly quickly.
Joker Folie á Deux will be released digitally on the 29th of October. Yes, even before it completes a month on the big screens.
This is just sad. No other words for what a massacre Joker Folie á Deux is.
