Martin Charles Scorsese, 81, has no plans to retire anytime soon. One of the greatest filmmakers of all time, Scorsese has confirmed that he has “no intention of retiring.” He is currently working on his Frank Sinatra biopic and ‘The Life of Jesus’, based on Shūsaku Endō’s novel of the same name.
In his recent talks with The World of Reel, this is what Scorsese said when asked about his retirement plans.
“I have no intention of retiring. The film about Frank Sinatra is only postponed while the one about Jesus I am working on. I hope God gives me the strength and money to finish them.”
Scorsese is currently in Torino, where he will be receiving a career achievement award at the Cinema Museum tonight. Tomorrow, he will be the featured guest at a masterclass session.
‘The Life of Jesus’ stars Andrew Garfield, who previously worked with Scorsese on Silence (2016). The film has undergone multiple script revisions and is expected to be filmed in the near future. As for the Frank Sinatra biopic, some publications have reported that filming has been postponed as the late singer’s family estate has not yet given the director approval to proceed with the project.
