A new teaser for The Monkey has been unveiled by NEON. This upcoming horror flick is directed by Longlegs director Osgood Perkins. Stephen King wrote the original short story in the 1980s, and it was first published in Gallery magazine. James Wan co-produced the film.
The Monkey revolves around twin brothers, Bill and Hal (both played by Theo James, with Christian Convery portraying their younger versions), who witness a string of chilling and terrifying deaths after discovering their father’s old toy monkey in the attic. The twins decide to get rid of the monkey to stop the killings. However, years later, similar deaths resurface, forcing the brothers to reunite on a mission to eliminate the toy for good.
Alongside James and Convery, the film stars Tatiana Maslany, Elijah Wood, Colin O’Brien, Rohan Campbell, Sarah Levy, and Perkins himself.
The latest Red Band teaser opens with the menacing monkey toy and features plenty of brutal, unsettling, and darkly comic deaths, including a baby stroller on fire, a woman being electrocuted in a swimming pool, a woman’s head on fire, and more.
NEON hit a home run with Perkins’ Longlegs this past summer. The Nicolas Cage starrer not only earned acclaim from viewers and critics but also grossed over $108 million globally, becoming the highest-grossing indie movie of 2024. Perkins will be looking to surpass that success with The Monkey, slated to hit theaters worldwide on February 21, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates. Here’s the film’s new teaser!
