Fans of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer series are less than three days away from getting Season 3 on the streaming platform. However, showrunners Dailyn Rodriguez and Ted Humphrey are confident about the show’s future, believing that it will surely be renewed by Netflix for a fourth season.
The Lincoln Lawyer debuted on Netflix in May 2022 and has received strong critical acclaim and impressive viewership figures for its first two seasons.
In a recent interview with TV Insider, Rodriguez and Humphrey discussed their hopes for the series’ future, including their desires and plans for Season 4. The duo revealed that they have laid the foundation for Season 4 in the upcoming third season.
“I think we can say this season will definitely propel us in a very exciting and personal way into a Season 4. Michael hints that he’s potentially working on another Lincoln Lawyer book beyond the ones that have already been published. We don’t know that for sure. Obviously, if he is working on one, we are very eager to read it. We have plans internally for how to adapt versions of all the books. If the audience keeps enjoying what we’re doing, then we will keep making the show… we would go for a potential Season 5 and even 6 beyond that,” Humphrey said.
The renewal for Season 4 depends on how well Season 3 performs in terms of viewership. We all know that when it comes to the viewership versus quality battle, Netflix always prioritizes viewership over the latter. If the forthcoming season brings substantial viewership, the streamer will likely renew the show for a fourth season in no time.
Another factor that benefits the showrunners is the availability of source material: Michael Connelly’s novels. The first two seasons have adapted Connelly’s second and fourth novels, whereas Season 3 is expected to adapt the author’s fifth book. This means we still have four novels left. We may even get Seasons 5 or 6 if Season 3 performs well.
