Ridley Scott’s Gladiator opened a world of wonders for the audience. The power struggle, the politics, and the history of entertainment itself. All wrapped up in the most beautiful of sequences, garnered by the strongest performances by the likes of Russell Crowe, Joaquin Phoenix, and Richard Harris. And after a period long enough that the movie was itself on the verge of becoming ancient, Scott came back with a sequel. Now the question is, how long should we wait for a third one?
Rejoice, for the creator of Gladiator has spoken. And we might just get a third part of this beautiful franchise much sooner than the 20-year-old delay, as it was between the first two films. Riley Scott recently revealed that he might already have an idea for a third movie. and he would rather jump right into it.
Scott revealed that he will be looking forward to The Godfather: Part II for inspiration for the next movie in the franchise. Gladiator was a massive hit. With critical reception so good, it got five Oscars. Scott himself is one of the greatest of his generation of directors. The 86 year old is confident in the sequel. Stating, “It is possibly even more extraordinary than the first.”
The second movie, “Gladiator II,” which stars Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, and Joseph Quinn, is set to release on November 22.
