Its been three years since a tragic on-set accident happened claiming the life of Ukrainian cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Alec Baldwin accidentally discharged a gun that was loaded with live rounds at the set of “Rust.” The fact that the weapon was hot was not known to him. This led to a lengthy lawsuit, which saw the conviction of Baldwin under the charges of accidental manslaughter. The movie was essentially delayed; however, it has finally found a premiere date at the Camerimage Film Festival.
The movie will finally find an audience at the film festival, which is being held in Torun, Poland, in the month of November. The movie follows a 13-year-old boy and his younger brother, who have to fend for themselves in the wild west of the late 1800s. Alec Baldwin plays the father of the boy, who is played by Patrick Scott McDermott.
Ironically, Alec’s character too is at large after an accidental killing by his hands. According to sources, the Emmy award-winning actor will not join the screening. The death of Hutchins will be honored, as it not only signifies the graveness of such accidents but also sets up an example that anything similar does not get repeated.
Baldwin was not just starring in the film but was also the lead producer of the project. While at times he has openly described that the movie is a “passion project,” he will not be present at the screening.
