The trailer for Steve McQueen’s Blitz has been unveiled by Apple Studios. Led by the Academy Award-nominated actor Saoirse Ronan, the film is a historical drama taking place during World War II.
The upcoming Apple TV+ drama revolves around George (Elliot Heffernan), a nine-year-old boy, living in wartime London. His mother Rita (played by Ronan) sends him away to the English countryside to protect him from the war. However, determined and resolute in his mission to return home to his mother and grandfather, Gerald (Paul Weller), in East London, George finds himself in real danger. Meanwhile, a frantic Rita desperately searches for her footloose son as the threats against him grow.
Blitz marks McQueen’s return to direction after Widows (2018). The British helmer is prominent for helming the critically acclaimed ‘12 Years a Slave’, which bagged the Oscar for Best Picture and also earned him a directing nomination.
The latest trailer shows Rita desperately searching for her lost son. Meanwhile, George is seen looking for shelter along with other residents of London in either bombed-out houses or subway stations as the German army continues to attack the British capital’s east end.
