Sony Unveils First Eight Minutes Of Kraven The Hunter: A Sign Of Redemption?

Well, well, well, the first eight minutes of Sony’s Kraven the Hunter don’t look too bad, considering the reputation Sony’s infamous SSU franchise has cultivated since its inception. The nearly eight-minute-long opening sequence features Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular conservationist and apex predator, who finds himself in a Russian prison.

It’s quite unusual for a major studio like Sony to unveil the first eight minutes of one of their most anticipated movies of 2024. But it seems Sony wants to give the Marvel fanbase a better idea of what to expect from the upcoming J.C. Chandor project. The clip features plenty of blood and gruesome action, and pretty much sets the tone for the rest of the movie.

In the final moments of the clip, Taylor-Johnson’s Sergei Kravinoff (aka Kraven) takes out several Russian gangsters and escapes from the prison without breaking a sweat. Easy peasy!

We also get glimpses of Kraven’s abilities in the video, including superhuman strength, agility, combat skills, and raw power, making him a lethal character.

Are the early release of the trailer and the poor reception of Morbius and Madame Web indicative of Sony’s desperation to salvage Kraven the Hunter, or is this a strategic move to drum up excitement? Only time—and the opening weekend box office numbers—will tell. The movie will arrive in theaters globally on December 13. Stay tuned for more updates. Here are the first eight minutes of the movie!
