Netflix has released a surprise first look at The Adventures of Cliff Booth, bringing Brad Pitt back as the laid-back stuntman from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The teaser premiered during the Super Bowl and offers a brief but stylish glimpse into Cliff Booth’s life in the 1970s. Set to retro music, it shows Cliff relaxing at a bar, moving through a film set, and racing a car on a dirt track. The teaser also introduces characters played by Elizabeth Debicki and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, dressed in classic Old Hollywood fashion.
The footage includes playful censorship moments covering scenes with guns, cigarettes, nudity, and rude gestures. One standout moment shows Cliff placing an Oscar on his desk, a clear nod to Pitt’s Academy Award win for the original film. The sequel is directed by David Fincher, while the script is written by Quentin Tarantino, who chose not to direct this time as he continues planning his final movie for more than 7 years now.
David Fincher is a more than capable director who has given us a lot of memorable films, but this character is a brainchild of Tarantino, and it will be interesting to see how he makes this film.
The story moves into the 1970s and follows Cliff on new adventures without Leonardo DiCaprio’s Rick Dalton. The cast includes Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Holt McCallany, JB Tadena, and Timothy Olyphant, who returns as James Stacy. Produced by Tarantino, Pitt, and David Heyman, the film was shot in Los Angeles and will stream on Netflix, with a release expected in 2026.
