‘The Diplomat’ Season 2 Trailer: Keri Russell Faces Threat From British Government

A new trailer for Netflix’s The Diplomat Season 2 has surfaced, featuring Keri Russell as Katherine “Kate” Wyler, the US ambassador to the UK. Alongside her, we see the return of Rufus Sewell as Hal Wyler, David Gyasi as Austin Dennison, Ali Ahn as Eidra Park, Rory Kinnear as Nicol Trowbridge, Ato Essandoh as Stuart Hayford, and more. The clip ends with Allison Janney appearing as Grace Penn, the US Vice President.

 

Season 1 of The Diplomat ended with a major cliffhanger, featuring a deadly explosion that led to the potential demise of Kate’s husband, Hal. The latest trailer for Season 2 shows the protagonist believing that UK Prime Minister Trowbridge was somehow involved in the attack after learning that a key figure within the British government was responsible for the chaos.

 

Netflix renewed this Debora Cahn (executive producer of “Homeland”) political thriller in March this year. Season 1 turned out to be a massive streaming hit. According to Variety, the show was watched for a total of 57.48 million hours within its first four days of streaming release, and it was in the top 10 in 86 countries.

 

Russell received nominations for an Emmy, Screen Actors Guild Award, and Golden Globe for her phenomenal performance in Season 1. The first season also earned a Golden Globe nomination for best TV series – drama.
