The Zellners’ ‘Alpha Gang’ Gets Dave Bautista, Channing Tatum, & Zoë Kravitz

Nearly six months ago, the Zellner Brothers’ Alpha Gang made waves in Hollywood after the directing duo secured Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett for the film. This was a significant achievement, as Blanchett is widely regarded as one of the greatest acting talents today. Now, the latest update from Deadline may leave you speechless: the film has added major stars such as Dave Bautista, Zoë Kravitz, and Channing Tatum to its cast.

In addition to these big names, Alpha Gang has also cast Steven Yeun, Léa Seydoux, and Riley Keough. The film will be an alien invasion comedy directed by Nathan and David Zellner, best known for their quirky Bigfoot comedy Sasquatch Sunset, which featured an unrecognizable Keough and Jesse Eisenberg in hairy costumes. Now, the Zellner Brothers are preparing for their next unique project.

According to the official synopsis, the movie centers on a group of alien invaders sent to conquer Earth. They disguise themselves as a 1950s leather-clad biker gang, but their plans for massive destruction are quickly derailed when they encounter humanity’s most contagious condition: emotions. Blanchett will star as Alpha One, the leader of the alien group.

Renowned cinematographer Mike Gioulakis, who has worked with notable filmmakers like David Robert Mitchell, M. Night Shyamalan, and Jordan Peele, will be behind the camera for Alpha Gang. The Zellner Brothers will also produce the film under their banner ZBi, collaborating with Coco Francini and Cate Blanchett’s production company, Dirty Films. Additional producers include Ryan Zacarias (Fat City), Mary Aloe (Aloe Entertainment), Gina Gammell (Felix Culpa), and Andrea Bucko (Sugar Rush Pictures). The release date has not yet been revealed. Stay tuned for more updates.
