Thunderbolts Star Wyatt Russell To Join Steven Spielberg’s Next Movie

MCU’s Thunderbolts* star Wyatt Russell is in advanced talks to become a part of Steven Spielberg’s next event movie, which is being produced by Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. As per Deadline, the deal will soon be finalised and an official announcement will be provided in the coming days.

While the details for the movie’s storyline are being kept locked in a sealed vault, we do know that Russell will join the cast, which already treasures talents like Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer), Colman Domingo (The Color Purple), Josh O’Connor (The Crown, Challengers), Colin Firth (Kingsman movie series), and Eve Hewson (The Perfect Couple).

Universal plans to release the movie on May 15, 2026.

David Koepp will pen the movie’s screenplay. He has collaborated with Spielberg on blockbusters such as War of the Worlds, Jurassic Park, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Their collaborations have minted over $3 billion at the global box office.

Wyatt Russell has worked on numerous notable projects, including Overlord, The Woman in the Window, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and Night Swim. But he gained global prominence after appearing in the Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as John Walker, aka Captain America turned US Agent. He also stars in the upcoming MCU project, Thunderbolts*, which also has Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Hannah John-Kamen, Geraldine Vishwanathan, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.
