Twilight Of The Gods. A Visual Speedrun

So Twilight of Gods is here, and it is what one would expect a Zack Snyder story to be. An epic and beautiful visual experience. Everything aside, Snyder always nails the visuals. Yeah, but a genuine piece of advice would be to just watch the show. Registering anything remotely related to the story will detach you from the pleasure of watching the series.

The problem remains in the pacing. An eight-episode series co-written by three writers was meant to be. Our protagonist, Sigrid, goes through her entire character development, which led her down the path of vengeance against the Norse gods, all in one episode. The next episode is a suicide squad-type montage, where queen Sigrid finds her crew in mere 15 minutes, which undermines their importance.

There are more than enough reasons to say that the characters fall short when it comes to showing any depth. May fall into the traps of lengthy exposition and autobiographical accounts at places that completely throw off the viewer from whatever is going on.

The eight episodes have some of the best visuals, and to say that the VFX team understood their assignment is an understatement. They cooked; they ate. Whether it be slaying gods or breaking people in half. Snyder didn’t shy away. The art style is refreshing. Perhaps the only way to describe the series is to call it a Snyder project. Not essentially good or bad, but a signature Snyder project.
