Wake Up Dead Man: Tentpole Netflix Film to Disappoint India Again

Netflix has confirmed that Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery will arrive in select US theaters on November 26, 2025, before streaming worldwide on December 12.

The film will only play for two weeks on the big screen, something director Rian Johnson had hoped would be longer. Johnson has often spoken about wanting more people to enjoy the mystery series in theaters, but Netflix has decided to keep the theatrical release short.

The third film in the Knives Out series stars Daniel Craig as detective Benoit Blanc, who faces his darkest and most dangerous case yet.

He is joined by a star cast that includes Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Daryl McCormack, and Thomas Haden Church.

In India, where the Knives Out films are extremely popular, fans will not get the chance to see Wake Up Dead Man on the big screen. Netflix has limited the theatrical run to the US only, keeping Indian audiences waiting until the streaming release.

This feels unfair because India is one of the fastest growing markets for Netflix. Fans here have shown strong love for the series and deserve the same cinematic treat as audiences in the US. With such a massive fan base, giving Indian viewers a theatrical experience would have only strengthened Netflix’s connection with them.

But looks like it is not happening. We hope that the film gets a limited theatrical release in India as well.
