Gone Girl (2014) is an American psychological-thriller that can be considered one of the best of the genre to be ever created. The film was an adaptation from a Gillian Flynn novel of the same name. The film was directed by David Fincher and Flynn was brought to write the screenplay for it. It starred some great actors including Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry. It became a huge hit and earned a whooping 370 million dollars against its budget of about 61 million dollars.
The film is based on the themes of relationships, marriage, society versus personal etc. The plot focuses on Nick Dunne, famous writer and his wife Amy. The couple portrays themselves as a blissful couple with hidden issues. On their fifth anniversary, Amy goes missing and Nick reports the case to the cops. But the police and media suspect Nick as the primary suspect. Soon, the charade of a blissful relationship begins to crumble and his lies begin to unfold. It leads to another question- Did Nick kill his wife?
The film is an excellent work of cinema and Rosamund Pike was even nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The film received a staggering 88% from Rotten Tomatoes.
