Why A Neagley Spinoff Is Essential For ‘Reacher’ Universe

It’s no surprise that Prime Video has greenlit the production of a spinoff series based on Frances Neagley. In addition to expanding Alan Ritchson’s Reacher universe, the upcoming spinoff should also enhance the prominence of Maria Sten’s popular character.

Prime Video’s Reacher isn’t ending anytime soon. Moreover, the original series is one of the streamer’s most successful shows to date. As a result, a spinoff centered on Neagley will bring added depth and emotional weight to the Reacher franchise.

Neagley is the only character, aside from the buff and brawny protagonist, to appear in all three seasons of Reacher. So, it’s not surprising to see her getting her own spinoff. In fact, her character deserves a standalone show, especially considering how brilliantly she was portrayed in Season 2. Neagley is undeniably one of the best characters from the original series.

In many ways, Neagley is essentially Reacher in a female avatar. Not only does she possess expertise in survival tactics, critical investigation, and combat, but she also shares Reacher’s stoic and intimidating persona—a trait Reacher has in abundance.

What sets Neagley apart from other Reacher characters is the depth of her loyalty to her friends and the bond she maintains with them. When Gaitano Russo (Domenick Lombardozzi) sacrifices his life to protect Jane and her daughter, Neagley is the first to approach and comfort him. In that moment, her calm and stoic persona takes a backseat, revealing her vulnerable side. This is an interesting contrast to Reacher’s personality.

Prime Video has yet to announce the release window for the Neagley spinoff. Stay tuned for more updates.
