As Geeked Week continues, more details about upcoming Netflix projects are flowing in. This time its about the animated witcher project, titled “The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep.” The series has been postponed to February 2025, while exclusive footage was showcased to the crowds attending the event.
Witcher is one of those stories that transcend media. Whether it be books, games, live action, or animation. There’s some witcher content for everyone. Initially, Netflix had worked on the live-action version of the story, featuring Henry Cavill as the Witcher. The series was well received and would spawn a second and third season. However, by the fourth, Liam Hemsworth took over the role, and as of now, the live-action version has been renewed for a fourth and final season.
Netflix nearly fumbled the bag with the series as live action, which explains why it is banking more on the animation counterpart. Prior to this, an origin story and a miniseries had been released in the same medium. The new series will again focus on Geralt as he meanders through the conflict between men and merfolk. The new clip brings us the return of Jaskier, which was a fan favorite character.
With an impressive voice cast and perfect disjointed adventure, Sirens of the Deep has the potential to save the flag in the eyes of the fans. Moreover, the extra time taken by the studio will certainly result in higher expectations from the fans, who’d expect a perfect product when the series releases on 11 February 2025.
