Can SonyLIV Replace WWE With This?

The WWE and SonyLIV saga—no one thought it would end, but it did. The journey is over as both parties have signed the divorce papers. April 2025 will mark the last time they work together.

But as humans, we always look for replacements. What if SonyLIV decided to find one?

Why not WWE’s biggest current rival?

AEW.

This idea certainly has potential. Fans have been eager for AEW to have a stable viewing experience in India. The product is solid, and the Indian audience craves more of it. However, when it comes to streaming, there is no definitive solution.

Some fans resort to piracy. Others watch it on JioTV, which is too unstable to enjoy properly. Talents like Jon Moxley and Mercedes Moné have a significant Indian fanbase, and any platform that captures this audience is bound to see success.

The timing seems perfect. AEW is looking for a major platform, particularly in a country like India, where wrestling’s popularity is on the rise.

The only complaint fans might have is how SonyLIV handles live sports. Viewers were often frustrated by ads, but that’s a common flaw with any live broadcast.

So, could a SonyLIV and AEW partnership work? It looks great on paper. Whether it will ever be executed in reality, though, is something we can only speculate about for now.
