There are some films that tick all the boxes of great filmmaking. But the most difficult road to recognition and success is reserved just for them. Take the case of All We Imagine As Light. It is now eyeing Oscars and Indians noticed the film only after it won at Cannes. So we need international recognition before we recognise our own film.
Girls Will Be Girls is another such film that has a lot of potential. Now, there is another movie that can bag a lot of awards for India.
We are talking about “Sad Letters Of An Imaginary Woman”. This film is directed by debutant Nidhi Saxena whose venture has been selected for the 29th Busan International Film Festival.
The film talks about an imaginary woman and it is extremely beautiful to say the least. Even the poster is simply breathtaking to say the least.
The film is about a character called Nidhi and her ageing mother Meera. The film explores their trauma and it would be interesting to see how Nidhi, the director, has dealt with it.
Do you see a pattern?
As more women are getting involved in filmmaking, India is doing better at International stages. That’s why we need more of them.
Let’s hope that the film comes out to be a great one.
