The recent update from Christopher Miller regarding the status of Sony’s Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is indeed a huge sigh of relief for many fans. The third entry in Miles Morales’ animated Spider-Man series was supposed to come out in theaters this year, but Sony delayed the project nearly a year ago and provided no fixed date for the threequel. Things took a dramatic turn after some platforms announced 2027 as the release year for Beyond the Spider-Verse.
The rumours circulating about Beyond the Spider-Verse being overhauled and postponed to 2027 have been debunked by Daniel Pemberton, the film’s composer. Plus, he has advised fans not to believe anything online. Writer and producer Christopher Miller has also revealed that “nothing has been scrapped.” In fact, the third entry is currenrly in the reels stage.

This is indeed great news for Marvel fans, as Miller’s tweet suggests that the production of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is progressing smoothly. As for its release window, the threequel should come out either in 2025 or 2027.
Pemberton has already hinted at a release for Beyond the Spider-Verse next year, but we are still waiting for an official announcement from Sony. Otherwise, a 2027 release makes sense. This is due to the fact that Spider-Man 4, starring Tom Holland, is expected to start filming in early 2025, likely aiming for a 2026 release. It’s unlikely that two Spider-Man movies would be released in the same year. Stay tuned for more updates.
