BSP Varma’s Murphy Wins Hearts At Box Office

Time travel concepts are always interesting, and some high-profile filmmakers worldwide have showcased this concept beautifully over the years. For a regional movie based on the topic, it takes lots of courage to make such a film covering such deep and mind-boggling ideas phenomenally.

Well, that’s the case with BSP Varma’s Murphy, which is successfully running in cinemas right now. The film examines a lost chance and considers the “what if” scenario. Prabhu Mundkur’s character David resides in Goa with his grandfather Ritchie (Dattanna).

There is an unresolved issue between the two. The story centers on Ritchie’s beloved antique radio, which, following a brief accident, miraculously begins to function. David communicates with Janani played by Roshini Prakash, who lives in a distant past. What follows is a beautiful romantic thriller involving science fiction ideas of time travel.

Fans love the film and have given positive reviews all along despite some minor flaws present in the film. At the time of writing, the film is rated 9.4 stars on IMDb and is going solid on other reviewing sites as well. Though most people consider time travel stories to be science fiction, it’s unique to think of a love story that synchronizes two different eras.

According to several reviews, Prabhu Mundkur does a fantastic job portraying David. Beautifully depicted are his existential discussions with Janani, his conflicted relationship with his grandfather, and his intimate moments with his girlfriend Jessie (Ila Veermalla). Having such a film in the Kannada film industry will surely uplift the status of this industry and would motivate more such ideas.
