It is perhaps only God who knows what is up with cinemas at the moment. While weeks go by with no significant titles being released, on the other hand, multiple big titles seem to always be clashing, with slated releases during the same weekend. Such is the case with an upcoming October weekend, with not one but four awaited releases lined up to premiere during the two days.
While Rajnikanth’s ‘Vettaiyan’ obviously has an edge over Alia Bhatt’s ‘Jigra’, Dhruva Sarja’s ‘Martin’, as well as Rajkumar Rao and Tripti Dimri’s ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’, it will be a fierce battle at the box-office anyways. However, the upcoming Kannada-language action thriller film ‘Martin’, might also just persevere against the competition.
The A. P. Arjun directorial may receive unbridled support from Karnataka and other Kannada-speaking regions, as is common with most regional titles. This could serve as an added advantage, as opposed to ‘Jigra’ as well as ‘Vicky Vidya’. More than that, while ‘Jigra’ might appeal to audiences by virtue of its original script, ‘Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video’ is not something that viewers haven’t already seen.
‘Martin’ has garnered quite the buzz online, which is why it isn’t really restricted to the category of a regional release. Perhaps, it’s only true competition will be ‘Vettaiyan’. Stay tuned to find out soon!
