Investigation thrillers in the Malayalam film industry is not a novel thing. Most of them are making it worth it at some angle. How can this upcoming movie change conventionality? What are its exciting factors?
‘Anand Sreebala’ is a cop re-investigation thriller which is directed by Vishnu Vinay and bankrolled by Priya Venu Kunnapilly for Kavya Film Company along with Neeta Pinto for Aan Mega Media. Abhilash Pillai has penned the screenplay and dialogues for the project, based on some true events.
The technical labour includes the handling of cinematography by Vishnu Narayanan, editing overseen by Kiran Das, and Ranjin Raj will be composing the music as well as the background scores respectively.
As the official teaser suggests, the story is expected to cover the sensitive cases happening in the state and how law and order are going to tackle the shackles and achieve a result based on several assumptions and studies. Also, the narrative is expected to have a character-based kind, who will be responsible for mobilizing the plot.
On the contrary, the storytelling is based on a re-investigative thriller that will have similarities with the Malayalam CBI Franchise played by actor Mammooty, and Jeethu Joseph’s Drishyam 2, which might be a tribute to this new attempt for such highly acclaimed projects.
Also, the movie has references to the cult cop flick named ‘Baba Kalyani’, directed by Shaji Kailas, and actor Mohanlal plays the titular character.
Actor Arjun Ashokan is the main lead in the flick, alongside actors Saiju Kurup, Aparna Das, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Aju Varghese, Siddique, Sangeetha, Malavika Manoj, Indrans, Manoj K U, Shivada, Kottayam Nazeer, Azees Nedumangad, Nandu, Muthumani, and Vineeth Thattil playing important roles.
