‘Barroz’ Is A Mammoth, But Can It Attract Mass Audience?

The official trailer of the much-anticipated Malayalam movie has been announced by its crew on their YouTube channel. What are its surprises? and What are its limitations?

‘Barroz- Guardian of Treasure’ is the first directorial venture of Actor Mohanlal who himself is hoped to appear as its titular character. The movie will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor for Aashirvad Cinemas.

Before its release on the social media handles, the trailer was released on the big screens with a view of conveying the story idea on the occasion of Children’s Day, which received positive to mixed responses.

Subsequently, this trailer is presented in a virtual three-dimensional view, which is the first of its kind in the Indian film industry.

Based on the novel ‘Barroz: Guardian of Da Gama’s Treasure’ by Jijo Punnose, Santosh Sivan will handle the cinematography and editing will be done by B. Ajithkumar.

Also, the movie will be joined by T.K Rajeev Kumar as its script advisor and Kalavoor Ravikumar as its additional dialogue writer.

As per the premise, the crux of the movie shows it to be a children’s film with a heavy canvas along with a decent storytelling style.

Lydian Nadhaswaram is composing the music and Mark Kilian will be composing the background scores respectively.

However, the wider the canvas, the bigger its challenges will be. A betterment in total gross may be found less likely due to its success ratio as the actor’s large-mass-loving audience may not be satisfied with the film, albeit attaining returns from its satellite rights.

Also, the other cast involved in the movie is not popular among Malayalam film viewers.

As per the official announcement, the movie will be released on the 25th of December, which is expected to be a Christmas treat that is hoped to break the boundaries. Stay tuned in Binged for more updates regarding ‘Barroz’.
