Can ‘Kondal’ Become A Better Competitor Of The Week?

A power-packed movie with jaw-dropping moments that can give an open celebration language for its audience is the defined success of the effort in the theatre. The ‘Onam’ releases by the Malayalam film industry have brought four flicks which are having different genres is an excitement to the film fanatics.

Movies like ‘A.R.M’ and ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’, which were released on the 12th of September are receiving positive responses and are expected to continue doing so. It was yesterday when another two flicks, ‘Kondal’ and ‘Bad Boyz’ were released which had a limited audience. What is all about ‘Kondal’ and why is it facing a constraint?

‘Kondal’ (Eng. Raincloud) is a mass-action-drama thriller flick directed by Ajit Mampally and features actor Antony Vargheese Pepe as its main lead along with actors Raj B Shetty, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Gouthami Nair, Jaya Kurup and Nandu Madhav in supporting roles respectively. The movie is produced by Sophia Paul for Weekend Blockbusters and is scripted by Roylin Robert, Sathessh Thonnakkal, and the director himself.

Despite having high-octane action sequences from the lead character’s perspective, the movie had loose storytelling and weak screenplay which were its major negatives. The gore and raw violence could only satisfy a special kind of viewers who are fond of such action which may exclude the family audience. Also, the character arc was not convincing, and the performances of the actors were not satisfactory.

The visual effects supervision and cinematography were noteworthy throughout the film. It is not more than a conventional and typical mass-action entertainer which can be a success in the commercial aspect. Moreover, it has less potential to become a strong competitor for the previously released ‘Onam’ flicks.
