Can Non-Star-Studded Films Impact The Mollywood Box Office?

With the hope of its better collection at the box office, the Malayalam film industry is bringing two movies for a clash that may be standing out content-wise. How profound can this blend be? Will it be able for a satiable audience intake?

‘Thrayam’ (Eng. The tri points) is expected to be a suspense thriller that is being directed by debutant filmmaker Sanjith Chandrasenan, while Arun K Gopinath, also a debutant, has written the story.

The film features a stellar cast that includes actors Dhyan Sreenivasan, Sunny Wayne, Niranj Maniyanpilla Raju, Aju Varghese, Dain Davis, Chandhunadh, Shalu Rahim, Sarayu Mohan, Sreejith Ravi, and Karthik Ramakrishnan respectively.

The film is being bankrolled under the banner of Ajith Vinayaka Films. For music, the makers have roped in Arun Muraleedharan, while the cinematography is done by Jiju Sunny and Ratheesh Raj is doing the editing. The flick is expected to be released on the 25th of this month.

Pallotty 90s Kids’ is expected to be a coming-of-age comedy-drama directed by Jithin Raj based on his story idea, and bankrolled by Sajid Yahiya along with Nithin Radhakrishnan under the banner of Cinema Pranthan Film Productions.

The movie will be talking about the viewpoint of two school kids and their ‘larger than life’ stories in a small locality along with their struggles and leisure activities. Deepak Vasan will be writing the screenplay and dialogues for the film which is expected to be the spine for the effort.

Furthermore, the flick has received several accolades at the 2023 Kerala Film Awards for Best Children’s Film, Best Playback Singer, and Best Male Child Artist respectively.

Technical labour includes the handling of cinematography by Sharon Sreenivas, editing overseen by Rohit V S Variyath, and music as well as background scores composed by Manikandan Ayyappa. Also, director Lijo Jose Pellisery will be presenting the film.

The movie will feature an ensemble cast of actors Arjun Ashokan, Balu Varghese, Master Davinchi, Master Neeraj Krishna, and Saiju Kurup in important roles.

Albeit both movies are differentiated in genre and pattern of storytelling, the marketing and ground promotions seem to be dull for both flicks which can be a demerit for the efforts despite the online viewership.

Hopefully, these movies can take up the responsibility of giving the best to the box office. Both efforts are releasing on the 25th of this month and stay tuned in Binged for more updates.
