Did ‘Bad Boyz’ Make A Bad Mistake With Its Release This Week?

The movie which had no expectations of pulling off a remarkable feat is not a factor to be wondered about. As said above, the ‘Onam’ release of the Malayalam movie ‘Bad Boyz’ does not change the prediction by critics.

‘Bad Boyz’ is directed by Omar Lulu who is popular for movies like ‘Happy Wedding’ and ‘Oru Adaar Love’ and has brought up his conventional way of storytelling excluding his cliché adult action and dialogues. The movie is set up in a mass-action comedy-drama that talks about a gang and its conflict with its allies, thereby affecting their family and relationships. However, the dull screenplay and conceiving the effort in a sub-standard manner are its negatives.

Actor Rahman, who plays the lead character in the film delivers a copycat performance that reminds the audience about Malayalam and Tamil films of the 1990-2000’s. Other supporting actors are also marginal in their work and not able to convince the narrative. Some cameos may be familiar to the regional audiences who are famous for their social media handles and actors who have been trolled for their funny but serious comments. The hard effort of making the scenes with humour touch didn’t become fruitful and stunt sequences were just average.

On an important note, the flick doesn’t provide any suspense or thrilling experience for considering it to be an entertainer and the world-building is unabashedly artificial. Also, there is no scope for music or scores which can engage the audience.

In a nutshell, there are no good chances of audience response and commercial success for the film. Above all, recent releases like ‘A.R.M’, ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’, and even ‘Kondal’ are more above its watchable factor.
