The updates regarding the much-expected movie from the Malayalam film industry, which is tentatively named ‘SG 250’ are going up and down with umpteen dismantles and date clashes. When is this effort coming for big screens? Can it create a great wave at the box office?
‘SG 250’ is expected to be an action-drama thriller directed by Mathews Thomas, loosely based on real-life incidents of a planter, who was earlier a goon somewhere in the down south. Shibin Francis will be writing the screenplay and dialogues for the film and Gokulam Gopalan for Sree Gokulam Movies will be bankrolling the effort.
Previously, Tomichan Mulakupadam for Mulakupadam Productions was the producer for the idea, who has presented movies like ‘Pulimurugan’, an all-time high grosser in the Malayalam industry. Later Sree Gokulam Movies decided to produce the effort. The movie was named ‘Ottakomban’.
Subsequently, the storyline had closer similarities with the Malayalam action flick ‘Kaduva’, with actors Prithviraj Sukumaran and Vivek Oberoi playing the lead roles. Again, the other important commitments by the title character for the upcoming movie as well as the production dismantling were other reasons to get it late.
Furthermore, actor Biju Menon was roped in to play the lead character which didn’t happen due to his clash with pre-planned schedules. On the contrary, Sree Gokulam Movies has announced something prevalent regarding the speculations.
As per the crew, the movie will be loading in 2025 and actor Suresh Gopi himself will be playing the lead character marking his 250th film.
Regarding the movie’s reception, a great chance of an excellent box office wave is visible as it will be a profound treat for the critics as well as fans to see the actor in an action avatar after a long time. Also, this wave can spread in the Telugu and Kannada industries.
However, the delay in release by continuous postponement in the date can increase unnecessary hype and expectation among the people which can create a marginal response for such an ambitious large-scale project.
