The release of movies in the Malayalam film industry to date for this month has received negative to mixed responses and feedback. The showtimes are going on despite the audience intake which can wash out from big screens within some time.
The constraints regarding the pre-sales for OTT viewership and smaller budget release acceptances by the production companies are the ongoing prevalent discussion. The chances of the commercial success of the recent releases are non-futuristic, hence not making any impact at the box office. Does the prognosis of Mollywood releases seem like a travesty?
Two anticipated movies are en route for the big-screen release, named ‘Bougainvillea’ and ‘Pani’ that are having notable selling prepositions. How well can it support the industry?
‘Bougainvillea’ is expected to be a kickass action thriller film directed by Amal Neerad and produced by Kunchako Boban for Udaya Pictures as well as Jyothirmayi for Amal Neerad Productions. The screenplay will be penned by Lajo Jose along with the director. Dialogues for the flick are written by RJ Murugan.
Technical labour includes a brilliant package handling the cinematography by Anend C Chandran, editing by Vivek Harshan, and music composed by Sushin Shyam respectively. The association by the technical crew with the director is for the second time after ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ (2022).
The movie features an ensemble cast of actors Fahadh Faasil, Kunchako Boban, Jyothirmayi, Sharaf U Dheen, Veena Nandakumar, and Srinda who are expected for exemplary performances and delivering profound action sequences which is an important attribute of the flick.
The movie is expected to release worldwide on the 17th of October.
‘Pani’ (Eng. Job) is an upcoming 2024 Malayalam language Romantic action thriller film written and directed by actor Joju George. The film was jointly produced by M Riaz Adam and Sijo Vadakkan under the banners of Appu Pathu Pappu and AD Studios. This is the directorial debut by the actor.
Actors Abhinaya, Sagar Surya, Junaiz VP, Abhaya Hiranmayi, Seema, Chandini Sreedharan, Prashanth Alexander, Sujith Shankar, and Rinosh George will play important roles. Also, this movie is intended to feature over forty new faces.
The cinematography includes the cinematography by Venu ISC and Jinto George, editing overseen by Manu Antony, music composed by Vishnu Vijay, and background scores by Sam C S respectively.
The movie has the compatibility in becoming a great competitor to a movie like Bougainvillea due to its similar nature in the genre, hype in technical labour, and the performance by the cast. But is that only necessary?
The marketing and ground promotions seem to be dull for both flicks which can be a demerit for the efforts despite the online rampage. However, these movies can take up the responsibility of giving the best to the box office.
