With the last week of the month, two action movies in the Malayalam film industry are on the cards for a clash on the big screens, one being a highly anticipated and the other a much-awaited re-release. How is it going to impact the box office? What are its expectations?
‘Pani’ (Eng. Job) is an upcoming 2024 Malayalam language action thriller film written and directed by actor Joju George. The film was jointly produced by M Riaz Adam and Sijo Vadakkan under the banners of Appu Pathu Pappu and AD Studios. This is the directorial debut by the actor.
Actors Abhinaya, Sagar Surya, Junaiz VP, Abhaya Hiranmayi, Seema, Chandini Sreedharan, Prashanth Alexander, Sujith Shankar, and Rinosh George will play important roles. Also, this movie is intended to feature over forty new faces.
Apart from the making and lead role performed by the actor, the storytelling is expected to consist of an engaging and gripping plot-based narrative, and strong women characters which is hoped to become a notable facet of the effort. Furthermore, the performances of a pool of young talents are worth anticipating.
The cinematography includes the cinematography by Venu ISC and Jinto George, editing overseen by Manu Antony, music composed by Vishnu Vijay, and background scores by Sam C S respectively.
‘Anwar’ (2010) is an action thriller film that has been bankrolled by Raj Zacharias for Red Carpet Entertainment Productions and the screenplay as well as dialogues are penned by Unni R and the director himself. The movie talked about terrorism and misconceptions regarding the generalization of specific communities, and dealing with such a sensitive issue.
The storyline has a character-driven narrative and even though the making and breaking of the conventionality were much of a discussion among the audience during its release, commercially the effort couldn’t do well despite having a cult following its post-theatrical shows. Also, The film’s plot elements were inspired by the 2008 American film Traitor.
Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has done the titular character along with an ensemble cast of actors Lal, Prakash Raj, Mamtha Mohandas, Vinayakan, Assim Jammal, Sai Kumar, Nithya Menen, Sreejith Ravi, Vinay Fort, Shane Nigam, and Salim Kumar in pivotal roles.
The technical labour included the handling of cinematography by Satheesh Kurup, editing overseen by Vivek Harshan, and Gopi Sundar composed the music as well as the background scores respectively. Also, the re-released version will be projected in the 4K resolution format.
