The filmography in the Malayalam industry for the month had no bigger projects like the previous ones like ‘Kishkindhaa Kaandam’ and ‘A.R.M’ that further became blockbusters with a profound box office collection as per credible reports. But does this month seem jubilant? If not, how did it survive then?
Following the successful run of the blockbusters, the month could suffice the box office with these two movies and waiting for the much-anticipated movies like ‘Bougainvillea’ and ‘Pani’. What happened then?
Subsequently, the month started with smaller-scale movies like ‘Kummatikali’, ‘Oru Kattil Oru Muri’, ‘Thekku Vadakku’, and ‘Thanupp’ to which the third one could only receive at least an above-average response despite its ‘washout’ after a week. Other ones became a box office disaster.
Furthermore, the box office could resurrect with the release of the Tamil flick ‘Vettaiyan’ which received a good initial and was able to fill the theatres.
Amal Neerad’s ‘Bougainvillea’ had an average response despite its hype and higher expectations thereby becoming a slow-grosser in the box office.
Likewise, Joju George’s ‘Pani’ also seems to have a marginal response from its day of release not performing up to the expectations of the audience. Also, ‘Thrayam’, a crime thriller, became a box office bomb.
On the contrary, feel-good flicks like ‘Pallotty 90s Kids’ can collect well and can be profitable to the producers of the efforts despite not being a big talk at the box office. Also, a movie like ‘Thanupp’ released during the first week of this month might have great appreciation on the OTT platform due to its rich content and novel approach.
With the month’s end, two films released today named ‘Amaran’ from Tamil and ‘Lucky Baskhar’ from Telugu can be able to make the box office stand for the time being and hope for a better November for the film industry. Stay tuned in Binged for more updates.
