Quantity Doesn’t Speak Profound In Latest Malayalam Box Office!

The Friday releases had four Malayalam flicks on big screens which is a higher figure for an industry. But does the quantity always mean a positive factor? could it justify the box office?

The audiences discuss the recent stories regarding the lack of pre-release and acceptance of smaller in-budget films in the Malayalam cinema. However, the maintenance of such a statement seems flat in the latest releases.

Four movies of different genres and smaller in-scale flicks were released named ‘Thekku Vadakku’, ‘Oru Kattil Oru Muri’, ‘Kummatikali’, and ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ respectively.

‘Thekku Vadakku’ (Eng. [Colloquial] here and there) is a Malayalam comedy-drama which is directed by Prem Sankar. The screenplay, adapted from S Hareesh’s story ‘Rathri Kaaval’ (Night Guarding), is crafted by its writer himself. The movie is bankrolled by Anjana Talkies in collaboration with VARS Studios, led by V. A. Shrikumar Menon.

The technical labour includes music and scores by Sam C S, editing by Kiran Das, and cinematography by Suresh Rajan respectively. Actors Vinayakan and Suraj Venjaramoodu play the main leads in the film along with actors Merin Jose, Vineeth Vishwam, Melvin G Babu, Shameer Khan, Sheethal Joseph, and Kottayam Ramesh in supporting roles.

‘Oru Kattil Oru Muri’ (Eng. One bed, One Room) is a romantic comedy-drama in Malayalam that is directed by Shanavas K Bavakutty. The film features actors Hakeem Shajahan, Priyamvada Krishnan, and Poornima Indrajith in prominent roles. The screenplay for this romantic comedy is crafted by Raghunath Paleri.

Jointly produced by Sameer Chembayil and Raghunath Paleri under the banner of Saptha Tharang Creations Private Limited and Vikramadithyan Film. Eldhose Nirappel handled cinematography while Manoj C S took charge of editing. Ankit Menon composed music for the movie.

‘Pushapaka Vimanam’ (Eng. Ravana’s Chariot) is expected to be an action-packed thriller directed by Ullas Krishna, with a script co-written by Sandeep Sadanand and Deepu S. Nair. The movie is produced by John Kudiyanmala under the Rayona Rose Productions banner, with distribution handled by Arifa Productions.

The technical labour includes cinematography done by Ravichandran, editing by Abhilash Mohan, and music composed by Rahul Raj which are a green signal for the movie. The film stars actors Siju Wilson and Balu Varghese in lead roles respectively.

‘Kummatikali’ (Eng. The Folklore play) is a teen-action-drama film written and directed by R K Vincent Selva, and R B Chowdhary bankrolled the movie. The technical labour includes handling of cinematography by Venkiy V, editing done by Donhai, and music composed by Jackson Vijayan.

The movie consists of actors Madhav Suresh Gopi, Lenaa, Raashin Ajwal, Midhun Prakash, and Dhananjay in important roles.

Although the mentioned movies have no great selling prepositions present, the content too seems dull and the mixed to negative responses from the audience is taking place. ‘Thekku Vadakku’ is the only satiable release from all others despite having some flaws.
